Beyond Profit: How Rogerwilco’s B Corp Certification is Redefining Purpose in Business

Profit has always been the measure of success in business. But as expectations shift, companies are being asked to show they stand for more. Being profitable is not enough. People want to work for, buy from, and partner with businesses that do good.

This is why we pursued B Corp certification. It is a framework that holds us accountable for the impact we have on people, communities, and the environment. It ensures we back up our words with action.

Why B Corp?

B Corp is a global movement that assesses businesses based on three areas: profit, people, and the planet. These set the standard for responsible business. Companies that meet the criteria show they balance financial success with social and environmental impact.

We wanted to prove that purpose and profit can work together. Too often, purpose is treated as a social impact marketing strategy rather than a core business function. We saw an opportunity to do things differently. As our CEO Charlie Stewart puts it, “There’s an awful lot of talk in the world around purpose, but there are very few standards that provide actual proof. B Corp, to our minds, is the gold standard.”

Business with Accountability

The B Corp process gave us the structure to measure our impact and improve how we operate. It made us reflect on the choices we make in our company’s operations.

It also helped us reconnect as a team. After COVID, like many businesses, we saw shifts in culture and staff retention. People wanted to be part of something meaningful. B Corp helped us create an environment where our team feels that their work contributes to a bigger goal.

What This Means for the Industry

More organisations are being held accountable. Clients are looking for partners who share their values. Employees want to work where they feel valued. Consumers are making choices based on more than price.

For agencies, this means being clear about what they stand for. It means working with businesses that are transparent about their impact. It means delivering meaningful work.

What’s Next?

B Corp is not the final step. It is a commitment to ongoing improvement. For us, it is a way to make better decisions. To create work that matters. To build a business that lasts.

At Rogerwilco, purpose is not a trend. It is how we operate. And it is how we will continue to work in the years ahead.
